We write the year 1964. Prince
has just introduced the Skyline 2000 GT-B as a first step
into the realms of racing. For the GP of Japan, the Skyline
competes against the Porsche 904. The Porsche wins, the GT-B
becomes second in an exciting race. Not bad for a car that
had never done any kind of racing before. Even better, considering
that the Porsche was a pure race car, whereas the 2000 GT-B
derived from the Skyline S50 series, a family sedan, and had
four doors...
That is almost 40 years and nine
Skyline-generations ago, but the basic spirit of those days
is still alive today. Since then, the Skyline has not only
been closely associated with racing, but earned a legendary
reputation for its several championships and victories all
over the world. Be it the reign of the
PGC10, or the dominance of the
R32 GT-R in Japanese Group A racing about two decades later. Hardly
any other car has competed in racing as successfully as the
Skyline has.

era here soon
The All Japan
GT Championship (JGTC)
The Skyline's dominance in Japanese
Group A racing went so far that a new race series called JGTC
was inaugurated in 1993, because nobody wanted to compete
against Godzilla anymore. With regulations similar to those
of the German DTM, this new series was supposed to offer a
platform for balanced competition. But for the first two years
nothing changed compared to the previous Group A series and
the Skyline won both the drivers- and constructors-championships.
Which does not mean the competition was bad. With cars like
the
Ferrari F40 during the early days and currently the
Lamborghini Diablo,
Dodge Viper,
McLaren F1,
Mosler MT900,
Honda NSX,
Toyota Supra,
Porsche GT2 and several others, the JGTC in fact offers an unprecedented
variety of manufacturers and can be considered the best national
GT-series of the world today.
But the Skyline was always up to
the task, and with five drivers- and four constructors-titles
throughout the last nine years, it still is by far the most
successful car the JGTC has ever seen. Find more specific
information in our Season
Reports.
Due to the mass of information,
we have divided this section by seasons:
